EVS FOR THE FUTURE

EVs for the Future

As the world moves faster towards achieving stricter emission targets, all nations of the world has been implementing alternative energy sources. On a larger note to contain the emissions, serious thoughts and transformations is happening across globe to adapt to lower emission substitutes to all systems that is currently contributing to emission. The transportation sector, irrespective of the vertical, by far is one of the highest carbon emitting segment.

As per the EDGAR reports UAE has managed a drastic drop of CO2 emission per capita to 30% compared to 1995. On the contrary, the contribution towards global emission of CO2 has a dramatic increase which is 0.61% compared to 0.29%. The automotive sector plays a significant role in the increase or decrease of the carbon footprint. UAE being an automobile lovers market, with a CAGR of 6.5% growth per annum, the fossil CO2 emission due to conventional vehicle stands above 30 million Ton per annum, which is 16% of the nation’s total emission. To capture the emission, the conversion of conventional vehicle to an emission-free option will be very crucial.

Why Move to Electric Vehicles (EV)

The Conventional vehicles with an internal combustion engine (ICE) produce direct emissions through the exhaust pipe, as well as through evaporation during the fueling process and from the vehicle’s fuel system. The Plug-in-Hybrid Vehicles [PHEVs}, the next level of ICEs doesn’t have an exhaust emission when used in all-electric mode drive, but evaporation can still cause emissions. PHEVs also exhaust emissions while using the ICE. Conversely, compared to the conventional ICE’s, PHEV has a lower emission. On the other hand, EVs produce zero direct emissions.

UAE and EV’s

Government has taken initiatives to promote the use of EV’s in a very serious approach. UAE targets 10% of their vehicle population to be EV by 2030. In a country like UAE, where the average kilometers driven per day is lesser, on an ideal scenario, the use of EVs can be promoted to a greater extend. With the government schemes to benefit the EV users like reduction of tariff, exemptions on tolls the acceptance by the population is higher.

What is the way ahead?

The future looks bright for smarter, reliable and emission-free mobility. To transform such huge industry to an alternate option like EV requires a large infrastructure setup. The advancement of technology to provide commercially viable rechargeable batteries would be the foremost element to make EV available to everyone and everywhere. The availability of charging station would be another major determining factor for the User Conversion Ratio [UCR]. The user reluctance to change habits makes it inevitable to have the charging stations at places where people idle their vehicles most, which are office parking areas, residence areas, hotels & restaurants etc.

Safe Line Electrical & Mechanical being a turnkey solution provider for all major electrical requirements, has also ventured into EV Charging Stations. Through the introduction of ‘Saf-EV Station’, Safe Line intends to provide world class reliable and efficient charging stations for developing the infrastructure to greater effective emission-free mobility. The strategic partnering with industry leaders in EV Charging Station has fast charged the journey towards the direction to enhance the infra development for a sustainable nature safe mobility
